The Original Photoshop

Photoshop CS2 was one of the first, if not the first, software products to introduce the concept of a single canvas for the editing of multiple images simultaneously. It made it simple for users to crop, resize, and recolor all of their images at once. The software also has a built-in morphing function that lets you stitch a group of images together into a single composite image, creating a complete image from multiple images using the various layers. It’s kind of a state-of-the-art version of the slideshow feature in a standard photo software package. It makes it easy to edit a multitude of images at once, as opposed to having to open each one in a separate window and resize, crop, or re-color each one separately.

Figure 3-7 shows the editing screen that’s displayed when you first open a new document. You see the editing screen with the windows for each of the layers that make up the image (see the upcoming illustration). At first glance, you may not notice that all of these windows are filled with an image that looks like a page from a typical photo album.

Stacks and groups

The software has stacks, which are also called groups. Stacks are a very useful feature that allows you to organize images into a single file. You can do two things with a stack:

A stack is a container where you store images.

A stack is where you place your layers.

You can create a stack by selecting the option at the bottom of the Layers panel. The Image Stack dialog box appears with thumbnail icons for each image in the stack, as shown in Figure 3-8.

To use a stack to add multiple images to a document, just drag and drop the images into the stack window. To view an image in a stack, double-click the stack name to open the chosen stack.

To find a nice arrangement of images in a stack, use the Arrange Images command, which you can access either by right-clicking the stack image and selecting Arrange or pressing Ctrl+I. For example, you can arrange multiple images into a nice, tidy vertical column, or you can arrange them into a horizontal line. You can resize and reposition the images inside the stack.

Reasons for using Photoshop vs. Photoshop Elements

Both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are designed to create crisp, professional graphics. Professionals find them useful for editing pictures, manipulating images, or both. This is why many of them became so popular — but they’re also quite complex, feature-rich programs.

If you’re a hobbyist or beginner, Photoshop Elements might be a great option, as it provides a more beginner-friendly interface and fewer features. It’s also good for people who don’t have access to Photoshop or a Mac. (It’s often cheaper than Photoshop.)

People who want to create professional-quality graphics but don’t have much money might use Photoshop Elements. One of the chief reasons for this is that Photoshop Elements is a part of the Creative Cloud, where you get access to a whole host of other Adobe tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe InDesign and many others.

If you don’t have access to a lot of money, then you might be able to make do with Photoshop Elements and an inexpensive graphics editor such as Photoshop Express, Gimp, etc. on your computer.

Although Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are both fairly feature-rich programs, they’re designed differently. Inserting a dynamic array of strings into a DataTable

I have a function that, when called, returns a Datatable object with 6 columns. There is a newline delimited list of strings in a static array that I need inserted into this table.
My question is, is this a good practice for storing this information in a database? I was thinking of storing it as a string in a single column in the table. Is this a bad idea? I am using SQL Server.

I would strongly suggest that you store them in a database table, have a “dictionary” table, with four columns; “Key”, “Data” “Value” and “EntityId”
EDIT:
if you want to be truly flexible, you should give the Dictionary table a type that has: ‘ID’, ‘Data’, ‘EntityId’, ‘Key’
LINQ-to-SQL will happily generate a POCO class from that table, that you can put into your entities. And you can always add other tables to it, like “AdditionalData” to store any additional data.
This way your Data Access layer is even more powerful than the database it talks to: you can add column-level transformations to your queries.
